Waconia is a community of 14,000, and the seat of Carver County, located southwest of Minneapolis. It is today becoming a destination for agritourism. It sits on the shore of Lake Waconia, near an island known for years as the “Coney Island of West” for its many resort hotels, cottages, and activities, ruins of which remain. The Peterson Farm is two miles east of town.
